A Red Wave Isn’t The Only Way For The GOP To Obtain More Power

Holding a Senate majority isn’t a foolproof method for preventing a potential MAGA takeover

Just because there wasn’t a red wave doesn’t mean we shouldn’t prepare for a MAGA takeover in the coming presidential election.

What happens if Republicans retain their majority in the House and Democrats lose the Senate in 2024? As Bill Maher put it, Donald Trump could just show up on Inaugural Day, whether he wins or not.

There is a real chance Trump will attempt to seize power again in 2025, especially if Congress is at his back — and we should be prepared, considering he’s already tried it once before. For anyone who thinks he won’t get the nomination because GOP leadership hasn’t endorsed him or since billionaires, like Kevin Griffith and Steven Scharwzmann, have stated their refusal to fund his future political ambitions, remember that the same exact thing happened in 2016.

Republican politicians and donors can talk all they want about supporting an alternative 2024 candidate, but at the end of the day, if Trump wins the nomination, they will ultimately fall in line. What evidence do we have to suggest otherwise?
