America’s Decision to Give the GOP More Power Suggests Deeper Issues
Culture wars, conspiracy theories, and nonexistent voter fraud…Oh my!
Consider what polling data leading up to the midterms tells us about the average Republican voter:
Gas prices and gender inclusive bathrooms are more important to the GOP than stripping women of their rights or living under autocratic rule.
88% of voters, who identified as white born-again or evangelical Christians, supported Herschel Walker — the guy who admitted to hitting several women, as well as paying for their abortions, while running as a “Pro-Life” candidate.
Most Democrats were absolutely flabbergasted as the 2020 presidential election became fully underway. The results were way closer than any normal person could have hoped. After both mishandling the economy and killing thousands of Americans, Trump was less than 50,000 votes away from winning the Electoral College and securing a second term.
That was before he tried to overthrown the government. If it wasn’t Trump’s mediocre response to COVID, I surely thought the Capitol Riot and overturning Roe v. Wade were enough to drive voters away from the Republican party. At this point, there is nothing Trump or his acolytes could do to deter a single MAGA…
