Hypocritical Small Gov’t Politicians who Received Government Assistance
Paul Ryan, Rick Scott, and Kyrsten Sinema were elected into office only to undermine the same programs which gave them a chance to succeed
In the United States, “welfare” is such a dirty word, especially when Republican politicians try to label every person who receives any form of government assistance as a moocher or someone who flagrantly chooses not to work.
No person in the modern era has been more influential in calling for the end of Big Government than Ronald Reagan, and to this day, the most lasting staple of his legacy remains ingrained in political culture: stripping middle and low income Americans of their self-worth by denying them a sustainable lifestyle in favor of corporations and tax cuts for the wealthy.
Forty years later, Reagan’s tax cuts have remained largely intact, and he was so persuasive and charming that a large portion of Democrats, at the time and even in the decades to follow, supported his call for welfare reform. Since then, no politician has been able to seriously call for a tax bracket higher than 40% without being labeled a socialist.
