What Really Caused Ron DeSantis’ Landslide Reelection

It was more than just his petulant culture wars and anti-mask rhetoric

Since DeSantis announced his first bid for Florida Governor in 2018, he’s raised over $270 million.

With the exception of self-funded billionaires Meg Whitman and Jay Pritzker, no gubernatorial candidate in history has raised anywhere near this amount of money. Luckily DeSantis doesn’t have to be ultra-wealthy himself since he’s already received campaign contributions from 42 billionaires from 15 different states.

Why would he be receiving money outside the state of Florida, unless he is being goaded by donors to enter politics on a national level?

Fox News and Republican mega donors cannot stop endorsing DeSantis for the 2024 GOP candidate to take on Biden, even though he hasn’t even announced his intention to do so. The Republican party is practically tripping over themselves to erase the Trump presidency, while simultaneously elevating DeSantis to the national level — and what better way to do it than money.
